When a website link has value, as determined by a search engine,  it shows up closer to the top of a search return. A lot of entities are interested in having their ranking high on the first page since most searchers only look at the first page of a search return. Let me explain that in layman’s terms: If you “google” something, you get several pages of possible links that will help you. Often you find the thing you need right there on the first page, right? Yes, so that is why everyone wants to show up there – as if to say “Pick me! Pick me!”

  • Engaging: case in point – Jackson Hurst. Jackson Hurst is an actor. He plays the character Grayson on a television series called Drop Dead Diva. Jackson is solidifying his fan base by interacting with his followers on Twitter @jaxhurst. He is a fairly new actor and he engages with his fans by telling them about his new dog named “Little Lulu”. Is this rocket science? No. Does anyone really care that this actor has a new dog? Well, yes, in fact, they think it is adorable. Even though it seems too simple, it works. What can your company or cause talk about online that will engage possible customers and followers?
